What did Zynga ‘really’ want when buying OMGPop?
What Zynga is picking up isn’t just a hit game, the team that built it, or even the 35 other titles that OMGPOP has created over the last six years. And it’s not just buying potential ad or in-game sales revenue from Draw Something users. What Zynga’s really buying is a huge engaged audience that it can funnel into its other social gaming properties. Ok 35 million downloads in 6 or 7 weeks and probably even ‘much more to come’ those users will nog generate ’200 million’. The 200 million will be made through new users, upselling and attracting ‘non gamers’ into the gamers field. Zynga simp[ly wants all of it.
The game is easy you don’t need a big brain to compete in it. Not even real ‘gamers’ are playing it. That’s actually worth a lot. Well besides all this OMGPop is generating over 250.000 a day… That should also have some influence on the total amount which Zynga eventually paid.
